MESA 2008 Panel Details

To be completed by the panel organizer. Before you submit your panel, please consider the following:

    Submitting this form will register your panel and you as its organizer. If you are participating on the panel or anywhere else on the program, please complete the appropriate form to register that instance of participation. For example, if you are chairing your panel or another one, complete the chair details form. If you are presenting a paper on your panel or another one, please complete the paper presenter details form.

  • Read the Call for Papers instructions for specific submission guidelines. Pay particular attention to the criteria the program committee will use as it reviews submissions.
  • If possible, submit this form before your paper presenters submit their individual forms.
  • Ask your panelists to make certain that they are current MESA members and have pre-registered for the meeting. This should be taken care of sufficiently in advance of the submission deadline (February 15) in order to prevent a delay in processing your submission.
  • Determine if your panel abstract will contain any special characters or diacritical marks that may not transfer in html. If that is the case, submit the panel form but prepare your panel abstract in Microsoft Word and submit it separately as an email attachment (instructions)
  • Your panelists can submit their personal data and abstract form directly to MESA or you can submit on their behalf, whichever you prefer.
  • Remind your panelists to list you as the panel organzer and give them the name of the session (they'll need this information when they submit their forms).
  • If you have assigned a chair and/or discussant to your panel, they should complete the chair/discussant details form. The program committee reads only the panel and paper abstracts during the review process.
  • Please remember that MESA's is a blind review process. Do not list the names of any panelists in the panel or paper abstracts. Doing so will violate the blind review process and will disqualify your submission.
  • A complete panel submission includes this form and: 1) a paper presenter details form for each paper presenter (includes personal information and abstract) and 2) a chair/discussant details form for the panel chair and discussant (if assigned at the time of submission).

*For foreign scholars and persons who deem themselves outside the field of Middle East studies, MESA may consider granting a one-time exemption to the membership rule.
