Published thirty years ago, Edward Said’s Orientalism continues to provoke intense scholarly and political debate. Periodically at annual meetings, MESA members have used the work as a centerpiece for a discussion of different approaches and methodologies. This year, another four scholars will discuss their own scholarly trajectories in relation to Orientalism and highlight new insights into the work and new directions in approaches and methods.
