Statement to the Ad Hoc Committee
Joseph Massad, March 14, 2005

In his statement to Columbia’s Ad Hoc Grievance Committee, Professor Massad defends himself against the allegations of two of his students. He also speaks more broadly about what he terms the “campaign of intimidation” that a selection of Columbia faculty and students, as well as external parties have engaged in against Professor Massad and other professors that have voiced criticism of the state of Israel. He incorporates discussion of the following topics, among others: “Columbia Unbecoming”, President Bollinger’s response to the film and related accusations, threatening emails and voicemails he has received from Columbia faculty and outside parties, the wave of accusatory articles written about him by publications such as the New York Sun, and individuals like Martin Kramer and Daniel Pipes.
